Kashi Ayurveda is inspired by the city of Varanasi in India which is known and respected as one of the holiest and ancient cities in the world. Legend has it that Lord Dhanvantari, the god of healing and Ayurveda had made an appearance as the son of Kashi's king in Kashi. We, at Kashi Ayurveda believe that passion inspires service and we intend to help people achieve optimal health through Ayurveda. Our mission is to heal people in a holistic way that considers life as a union of mind, body, spirit, sense organs, your consciousness and your awareness. Ayurveda aims at maintaining the health of a healthy individual and we strive to provide that.

Soumya Upadhyay, BAMS, MHA
Soumya is  the founder of Kashi Ayurveda. She has received her BAMS (Bachelors in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) training from India. This training spans for over 6 years and is recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi. After this training, she continued to do research work at The Ayurveda Research Institute, Pune. Following this, she moved to the United States and completed her MHA (Masters in Health Administration) from University of Missouri-Columbia. She has received practical training at the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy in Coimbatore, India. She has given lectures at Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakal and also has publications in esteemed journals such as 'Light on Ayurveda Journal' and 'AryaVaidyan'. She has several years of experience with Ayurveda and she continues to serve people achieve well-being in the most natural and effective way. She is very passionate about her work and gives talks on a regular basis on various Ayurveda topics.

Soumya is a NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association) approved Ayurvedic practitioner. She meets the currently established NAMA criteria for education and experience as a practitioner. The National Ayurvedic Medical Association was founded in 1998 and represents the Ayurvedic profession in the United States of America.

Soumya's story of resilience
Soumya's dedication to Ayurveda stems from her own experience. She met with a car accident a few years ago and her recovery has been due to Ayurveda, alternative medicine and extensive physical therapy. The odds were insurmountable in her life, but she rose against them with determination, will power and tenacity. Her heart fills with gratitude towards Ayurveda for this science has helped her actually see that nothing is impossible with positive energy and imagination. Her clients say that her life story and the fact that she has seen death so closely make her a better healer.
